Today's PSA: Read to your children!

You all know how important books and reading are to me. It's kinda my livelihood. This week, Kindle joined up with public libraries (finally) to include quite a few of their books for library patrons. This was good for the library world. But I still don't even know if I want an e-reader. There's something about paper. Having a heavy, paper book in my hands. Love it. Anyway, this isn't even what I was going to talk about.

If you want to have some quality time with your kid, and you want them to be the smartest thing since the light bulb, read to your kids! It's fun for all! (Well, there are some books that I've read to Maylee so many times, that I'd rather bite my own toenails off than read it again...but I always do.) It's interesting! It's relaxing! And if you're a mom like me, what's even better is watching your husband read to your kid. *Sigh. Few things make me happier than seeing a scene like this:

So anyway, if you're an adult...read a book! They're way better than TV or movies (though I still like those things, too). If you're a parent, read a book to your child! And if they don't like it, persist. Just reading books will help their vocabulary, social skills, and comprehension. It really is amazing what words will do.
Thanks for stopping by. And reading my PSA.

Today's pages

So, I did a little shopping this morning. Got a new bag, which will make Hubby ask, "Why do you need another purse?" Cause I do, m'kay? Got my work slacks I needed, too. Got some good deals...used coupons at both department stores I went to. I love bargain shopping!
When I got home, I finished some scrapping I started this morning before Maylee woke up.  There are some wonderful scrappers that scrap EVERY day. Now as addicted as I am, I don't think I could carve enough time out of every single day to get some scrapping in. Wish I could!! Anyway, some do scrap sets that show something from each day of the month. I decided I'd do a monthly wrap-up and am pretty happy with how they've turned out.

These were done using kits from CuddleBeez Scraps .  Again, a great freebie site from a wonderful woman sharing her talents with everyone!

First post

Well, after years of being a blog fan, I'm jumping on the blogging bandwagon myself. I figure I enjoy my life pretty well, so maybe someone out in the world (or just my family and closest friends) will enjoy hearing about it. Or maybe I'm just typing to a huge abyss of nothingness. Let's hope not. I hope I update this frequently. Maybe I'll become the next Perez of boring Mommy/Wife/Hobbies. Anyone see that happening? Yeah, me neither.
So the things I'll probably be talking about most on my blog are: my daughter and husband, the books I'm reading/have read, my addiction to digital scrapbooking, the TV shows and movies I watch, maybe some recipes, and maybe some politics (I'll try not to make anyone angry...I love my friends and don't want politics to come between any of us, but I'm kinda passionate about politics). I'm sure there'll be other things I blab about; I didn't call it "Random ruminations" for nothing!
